Brief Course Description
Arachnids are mainly terrestrial arthropods of the class Arachnida, including the spider, scorpion, mite and tick, harvestman (daddy longlegs), and a few minor groups. The body is divided into a cephalothorax, with four pairs of appendages, and an abdomen. The first two pairs of appendages are used to kill and crush prey (most arachnids being carnivorous); the remaining two pairs are walking legs. Arachnids have simple eyes and no antennae, but are equipped with sensory bristles. Some respire with air tubes, but most possess primitive respiratory organs called book lungs. Brief Course Description
This course covers diverse topics relating to plant biology including morphology, anatomy, physiology, ecology, systematics, and the evolution of terrestrial plants. The course enables a field-oriented study of ecological concepts and provides an opportunity to learn collecting techniques, specimen handling, development of skills for identifying common terrestrial species and chemical, biological and mechanical control of plants. This course will also cover common herbicide usage, integrated pest management, and pesticide regulations. This continuing education course was designed as a quick and ready reference of weed control practices used in various cropping systems or site/situations. Because chemical regulation of plant growth is complex and requires considerable knowledge, a large portion of the course is devoted to registered uses of herbicides, weed identification, and pesticide use regulation. In all cases, the authors make every effort to list only registered herbicides and to ensure that the information conforms with product labels and company recommendations.

Brief Course Description
A pesticide worker is anyone engaging in a task such as harvesting, weeding, or watering, relating to the production of agricultural plants on a farm, forest, nursery, or greenhouse. All agricultural employers whose workers perform hand labor operations in fields, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses treated with pesticides and who handle pesticides in these locations are covered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Worker Protection Standard (WPS).

Pesticide safety training is provided for employees who are classified as “agricultural workers” or “early entry workers” under the WPS. This training complies with the requirements of the EPA Worker Protection Standard 40 CFR Part 170.
